The Regional Museum in Mikulov is seated in a baroque chateau surrounded by a garden. The visitors can see permanent expositions that are divided into four groups as well as attractive seasonal expositions. Historical Tour presents the history of chateau and the Dietrichstein family. In addition there are a lot of art pieces of European artists exhibited. The modern - style archaeological exposition the Romans and the Germans in the land below Palava has been awarded by the Ministry of Culture for its uniqueness. Extraordinary exhibition of traditional wine making presents a lot of unique artefacts from the collections of the Museum, including a giant wine barrel. The museum has been devoted to a research of the history of the Jews and their culture for long time. There is an exposition devoted to the Jewish culture that is situated in the synagogue.
