Stories of things around us

14. 04. 2010 – 18. 09. 2010
pořadatel: The Moravian Museum – Dietrichstein palace

The interactive exhibition of Moravian Museum - Dietrichstein palace (Children´s museum) presents objects of everyday use from a new point of view – as exhibits with remarkable history. Things that surround us since our birth and are considered as granted leave their everyday role. What has their original shape been like? When did they come into being and what are they made from? How long has been their way towards the current technical level, the used materials and the applied design? The playfully conceived exhibition is divided into four parts for a better imagination of the children. The first three sections present the objects as indispensable, useful and above-standard things. The fourth section describes what happens with these objects after they are worn out and brings a lot of useful information on ecology. Besides a collection of historical objects from various materials, didactic games and hand-on activities are available, e.g. kindling fire, making pottery on a potter’s wheel, sewing with a bone needle, writing in various techniques, attractive ecological separation of „waste“. Everything can be tried. A non-traditional education programme is prepared for primary and secondary schools and leisure groups.
